Judas and the Black Messiah

(Warner Bros., 2021)

The film. FBI informant Will O’Neal infiltrates the Illinois Black Panther Party and is tasked with keeping tabs on their charismatic leader, Chairman Fred Hampton.

The campaign. Working in partnership with Chairman Fred Hampton, Jr., the campaign changed the narrative by educating audiences on the true history and positive contributions of the Black Panther Party, honored the revolutionary legacy of Chairman Fred Hampton, and bosltered the movement for Black Lives.

Roles: lead copywriter, content producer, partnership manager, researcher

I supported social media content creation featuring renowned activists Linda Sarsour, DeRay Mckesson, Akua Njeri, Fredrika Newton and others in conversation with cast members. The videos gave audiences an opportunity to revisit the true history about the Back Panther Party and explore its connection to today’s grassroots movements for liberation. I also led a weekly newsletter for fans of the film interested in taking action, and wrote the film’s landing page copy.

Results. The “Save The Hampton House” initiative successfully gathered enough petition signatures to turn Chairman Fred Hampton’s home into a Chicago Historic Landmark.
